Staff Training

The Office staff receive an annual appraisal, have an individual training log which is regularly updated, and are encouraged and supported to further their qualifications and experience with courses and seminars.

West Moors Town Council is committed to providing training in accordance with it's Training Development Policy for both its members and staff to enable them to undertake their respective roles for the betterment of not only the Council and the Community it serves, but also the Councillor and Officer personnel development. 

Various e-learning events are regularly available, via DAPTC (Dorset Association of Parish and Town Councils) and SLCC (Society of Local Council Clerks)

In the council office we:

 Provide bus pass forms (disabled & older person), signpost to all other departments within Dorset Council)

* Sell 10ltr compostable food bags (£4.50 per roll (2 bags) and dog waste bags (£2.50 for pks of 100)

* Provide waste calendars, copies of local magazines/booklets, leaflets

* Listen to all advisories, complaints, requests and queries

Town Clerk

The Town Clerk is a full-time post whose full job title is ‘Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer’. They are the Council’s principal official known as the ‘Proper Officer’. Their main role is to advise the Council; ensure decisions are lawful; and to implement those decisions. The Town Clerk is also responsible for the financial affairs of the Council – managing its budget and ensuring internal controls are in place to safeguard its funds and assets. They also act as the Line Manager for the other staff. The Town Clerk works closely together with the Town Mayor and other Councillors on an almost daily basis.

Judi lives nearby with her family and has extensive qualifications and experience, having started with the town council in 2006.

Deputises for the Town Clerk.
Day to day, she is there to greet, help and signpost the public.

She is responsible for sports bookings, cemetery bookings, The Planning Committee, all events other than Remembrance Day Parade and also acts the Communications Officer.


Amie lives nearby with her family and has been employed as an Assistant since September 2014, achieving her Cilca qualification in March 2020.

The Town Council employs a contractor called Terrafirma, who carries out a range of horticultural and general duties in parks, play areas, and other open spaces in and around the town.
His duties include grass cutting in the cemetery, Fryer Field Allotments and The Petwyn, ad hoc there is hedge trimming.
Weekly playground inspections are also on his list, as well as being called on regularly to carry out general maintenance on properties owned by the council as well as painting and other repairs to street furniture.


Finally, Steve does a fantastic job in helping with all the logistics of each and every event West Moors Town Council is involved in.
