Annual Town Meeting Thursday 13th April 2023

Published: 14 April 2023

Before the Annual Town Assembly commenced on Thursday 13th April, the Jean Ware Legacy Award presentation took place, where
Charlotte Geary, 16, received her individual trophy and a larger one with the engraved names of all former recipients of this award, since 2012. Charlotte will keep this larger trophy for a short time, then return to the Council.
Charlotte expressed sincere gratitude for the trophy and the grant that will help her reach her goals in singing and song writing. Her excitement about her upcoming adventures in Summer camp where she will learn and grow as a Song Writer was made clear and the performance she gave after the presentation, was stunning and a testament to the talents and potential the Judging Panel saw in her.
Mr Geary, Charlotte’s Father proudly said a few words about his Daughter’s Jubilance when she found out she had been chosen for this award.
Everyone present heard how dedicated Charlotte has been and how grateful she is for the opportunities that this grant will offer her.
Cllr Rita Burke wished Charlotte every success and asked her to stay in touch and update the Council on her journey.
The Annual Town Meeting began with a very interesting presentation by Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner David Sidwick, on his future plans and achievements so far, for making Dorset the Safest County.
This was followed by Annual Reports from the Chair of each Committee. Q&A's for both took place.
Thank you to the 31 members of public that came along, the Councillors for their reports and hard work over the last year and to David Sidwick, Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner for his time and valuable information.
