Regular visitors to the play park on Fryer Field will have noticed the rope climbing equipment has been missing - we removed it in September due to a loose connection. It was another poignant Remembrance Sunday in West Moors yesterday, and fantastic to see so many of our community come along to pay their respects despite the threatening rain. Thank you to clergy from St Mary's Church, St Martins URC, Pinehurst Community Church and St Anthony's Catholic Church for leading the parade and the commemorative service together. We'd also like to extend our thanks to Bournemouth Youth Marching Band (and Laguna Travel for transporting them) and the many, many representatives from the array of groups, schools and organisations from West Moors and beyond who made it such a special morning of remembrance and togetherness. There will be a short service on the Petwyn to mark Armistice Day tomorrow; all are welcome to join us on the Petwyn again at 10:45am. Read More...

What incredible creative talent we have in West Moors! Thank you to everyone who submitted entries for the Autumn round of our Seasonal Photographic Competition - the results are in! 1st Place: Lee Cooper Photography's stunning shot of sunlight through the trees in the Plantation; 2nd Place: Colin Perry's view of the Library through a spider's web; 3rd Place: Margaret Holden's pumpkin-adorned hay bale stack at Gullivers Farm Shop & Kitchen. In preparation for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, the 1st West Moors Scout Group have adorned the Petwyn with poppies. Thank you to those who knitted and crocheted all these beautiful poppies! Scout Leader, Lynne Anderson, worked with resident Kevin Wormley to produce a fascinating information sheet on each person named on our War Memorial. Do have a read of their impressive research. Drop into the office to pick up a poppy and/or remembrance cross - donations go to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. We will remember them. Read More...
