By January 2027, the UK's old copper phone network will be switched off, area by area. For most residents it is straightforward, but for older or vulnerable people, particularly those with telecare alarms, pendant alarms, or no mobile phone, it can be confusing and potentially risky if they are not prepared in time. We have been informed that a large transforrmer (used to convert the voltage of electricity so that it can safely be supplied to homes and businesses) will be travelling from Poole Harbour to Mannington Substation this coming Saturday 23rd May. Delivery is expected in the late afternoon, with a slow-moving transporter vehicle travelling along the A35, onto Gravel Hill, east onto the A31, north on Ringwood Road and west along Horton Road. Please be aware if you're travelling in the area on Saturday, as there will be some rolling road closures on the route. Read More...

As part of Dementia Action Week, the West Moors Dementia Action Group will be pitching a gazebo near West Moors Village Surgery on Station Road this Tuesday and Thursday between 10am and 12pm. They aim to promote awareness of dementia and memory loss, and friendly volunteers will be ready to talk and offer information, support or signposting to anyone who needs it. Read More...

Following last winter’s flooding, Dorset Council is taking action with a £9.25 million programme of recovery and improvements to support affected communities and prepare for more extreme weather in the future. This includes £250,000 for extra gully and drain clearing, major repair works across Dorset, and £456,000 of investment in locations including Cerne Abbas and Godmanstone. Read More...
