West Moors Town Council are careful to mark significant historical dates such as VE Day and VJ Day.
In 2025, we celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday 8th May with a traditional fish and chip lunch at Pinehurst Community Church. This event was free of charge, and tickets were alloted on a first come, first served basis. 60 residents - including many from local care homes - came together to enjoy musical entertainment from Vintage Singer Sally, who sang songs of the time. An emotive slideshow was displayed, with images and video footage from VE Day in 1945.
To mark the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Day in 2025, the Council organised short community services on the Petwyn, where a wreath was laid on the memorial in remembrance.
