HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Rest in peace.
In tribute to the very sad passing of His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, aged 99, it is with deepest sorrow that on the Petwyn today, the Union Jack Flag was lowered to half-mast. Prince Philip was just 2 months shy of reaching his 100th birthday.
As well as being the longest-serving consort in British history, a Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Prince Philip dedicated his life to our country - from a distinguished career in the Royal Navy during the Second World War to his decades of service as the Duke of Edinburgh.
Even as we mourn his passing, we should be uplifted by his example.
West Moors Town Council extend their deepest condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family.
This is a period of public grief when people may wish to express their sorrow and under normal circumstances, the signing of Books of Condolence and the laying of floral tributes would be encouraged, but unfortunately, that is not possible due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.
We do, however, encourage the public to pay their respects safely from home using online Books of Condolence. For example;
