Youth Club needs help! Volunteers required!!
West Moors has a long-established Youth Club and is currently at risk of closure after some 40 years due to lack of volunteers to assist with its running. See the notice on the Council 'News' page for more information.
Memorial Hall car park - restrictions due to rebuild of the Skatepark facility ( June-August )
From June 14th until sometime in August, construction vehicle traffic will be using the Memorial Hall car park to support the complete rebuild of the Skatepark facility. A reminder poster has been issued by the Council and can be viewed on this web site.
Roadway re-surfacing - road closures June/early July
Between 11th June and 3rd July, various roads around West Moors will be closed temporarily to allow 'surface dressing' to take place. The roads are likely to be restricted for periods of 1 to 3 days in any one place, and only during the daytime, Monday - Friday. More detail can be found in the documents linked here:

Maloren Way, Southern Avenue & Heathfield Road ( sometime between 14th June and 2nd July )
Glenwood Road & Farm Road ( sometime between 15th June and 3rd July )

Memorial Hall - now open for business!
A notice posted on the Memorial Hall web site states ... " The Hall is now open but subject to the current Government guidelines on social distancing. " Contact the Hall ( via the link in this text ) or the individual club / organisation to find out the latest information regarding activities there.
Youth Club and Health Walks resume activity
From the 13th May, the local Thursday ' Health Walks ' have re-started. These assemble outside Penn Court cafe, BUT you must book ahead to join them. Follow the link to find out more. Town Council - Newsletter No. 14 issued!
West Moors Town Council issue regular newsletters which are a useful way to keep up to date with what's happening around the community. The latest issue ( No. 14 / dated 8th May ) is now available. Among the items contained therein: summary of the 15th April Annual Public Meeting ( including details of various awards made on behalf of the people of West Moors ... items relating to the 'National Day of Reflection' (23rd March) ... details of the awards made to local groups/organisations ... various 'prompts' regarding applying for future grants/awards ( already publicised here ) ... update on the Skatepark ( good news - work hopefully begins this summer! ) ... summary of the BMX saga ( again, already noted here ) ... and the usual notices and advice regarding how to contact the council officers, listing of members. Annual Litter Pick - Great British Spring Clean
Not exactly in spring (!), but for obvious reasons the annual litter-pick around West Moors has had to be delayed this year: the Town Council will now arrange for this to take place on Saturday 3rd July, between 10.30 am and Noon.

St. Martin's Community Gospel Choir
Assuming the lockdown roadmap continues as planned ( next phase due May 17th ), this highly popular choir will start rehearsing at St Martin’s URC ( corner of Moorlands Road with Station Road, opposite the Library ) on Tuesday May 18th .. provisionally 7.15 pm. The choir are recruiting new members so please visit the choir web page www.urc-eastdorset.org.uk. Town Council office - ' By Appointment '
The Town Council office in Park Way is re-opening, but using an 'appointment' system; call the office 01202 861 044, or email them to arrange a convenient time ( within the published opening hours listed elsewhere ).
Update on this statement: according to the latest newsletter ( see above ) the Council hope to fully re-open the office in Park Way on Monday 21st June ( provided government guidance / regulations allow ).

Eco-Garden of Wonder! Competition
West Moors Town Council are launching a new environmentally and climate friendly garden competition, with sponsorship provided by Brewer and Brewer Estate Agents. There are several categories but the gardens must be viewable from front or rear of the property ( photographs not admitted ) and must be accessible to the judge - following any Coronavirus restrictions in place at the time. Entry forms will need to be received by Friday 2nd July, 2021 and the viewings will be on Wednesday 7th July. The following documents contain more information & entry form ...
