LATEST INFORMATION ... AND SOME NEWS FROM AROUND THE COMMUNITY

Complete closure of slip-road on/off A31 for West Moors

Considerable disruption for traffic trying to get on/off the A31 at the West Moors slip (eastbound - towards Ringwood) is likely for approximately 3 weeks from Wednesday 20th October. This is to allow gas pipework to be undetaken.

Westival returns for 2022!

After an absence of two years, the community 'summer fair' Westival returns in July next year: for preliminary details see the entry on the Westival page on this web site ( opens in a new window ). Although a long way ahead, planning is required now! Potential stall-holders, volunteers etc., are required. And remember, 2022 is going to be a 'big' year with the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen's accession 70 years ago.

Gas replacement work - impact on road traffic

The longstanding gas main replacement works will lead to some problems with traffic flow over the period end September to early November.
1. For approximately two weeks from the 27th September, traffic light control will be in place around the junction of Station Road with Glenwood Road, and as far as Glenwood Way. This is bound to lead to considerable delay for road users, especially along Station Road.
2. For a period of approximately three weeks from the 18th October, a portion of Moorside Road between Avon Road and Firs Glen Road will be closed with a diversion in place using Pinehurst Road & Station Road (among others).

LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR YOUR LOVED ONES

West Moors Town Council thought it would be nice to engage with the Community at Christmas time. We have decided to offer dove or star templates for people to write messages to lost or present loved ones - the templates will be in the Council office on Park Way. They will then be laminated in the office and hung with red ribbon, on the new tree outside Dixon Kelly, by the office staff. See the poster for more information - print and display to let more people know!

A31 Ferndown/West Moors (Dorset) – Safety Barrier Renewal
Highways England will shortly be carrying out work to renew the safety barrier along sections of the A31 eastbound and westbound carriageways near Ferndown (Dorset).
The following traffic management restrictions will be in place:

Thursday 9 September to Wednesday 20 October – A31 westbound carriageway
• Daytime narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit on the A31 between the A347 Palmersford roundabout and the Ameysford roundabout
• Overnight closures of the A31 westbound from the A347 Palmersford roundabout to the Canford Bottom junction.
[Where carriageways are closed, then the associated 'slip' roads will also be blocked off.]
All closures are overnight between 9pm and 6am, Monday to Friday only.
