Community Facilities

West Moors is well-served with facilities that can be hired for functions, events, meetings etc. Some of the principal assets are listed below:

Fryer Field & Pavilion
Managed by the Town Council, the facilities are available for use by all. The Pavilion is used for regular meetings of the Council, and also has facilities that can be hired for functions: adjacent to the Field is a children's play area.

Memorial Hall
This is the 'village hall' and is located close to the church and school on Station Road. It has a large car park and a wide range of facilities available for all classes & size of functions. See their web site for more details and availability.

[ Events at the Memorial Hall, provided they have been notified to me, will appear in the Diary section of this web site. ]

West Moors Library
Although there is a large lending & reference library in nearby Ferndown, we are fortunate to have our own library centrally located here in the village: on the corner of Moorlands & Station roads it offers the usual book lending facility (adult, large-type & children's), DVD hire, internet access [ free use of computers: booking not required but time restrictions may apply if the facilities are in high demand ], WiFi (free) access point & by using the on-line ordering facility [ follow 'Search the catalogue and reserve' link on 'Dorset Council' library web page ], books, DVDs etc. can be ordered for collection at the library - have your library card ready though

In addition to the facilities listed, all four churches in the village have halls that can be hired. Contact the individual church using the links from the 'Churches' page on this web site. Also, the local Guides and Scouts use halls that can be hired for small functions: see the appropriate entries via the Youth Activities listing on this web site.

Town Council Office

Services & facilities that can be accessed via the Town Council office ( 4, Park Way, behind Tesco Express ), times of opening & other information can be obtained by contacting the Council office under the "Contact Us" heading at the top of this page.

Dorset Council

There are many services provided for residents by Dorset Council (formerly by the County & District councils); this site carries a vast amount of information of interest to local people including details of transport links / services (public & school), refuse & re-cycling collection details (including altered dates following Bank Holidays), state school term times, local walks / trails (including maps to download), access to social & public services . . . and much more (click on the Dorset Council log in the panel to the left).

Historic note: on the 1st April, 2019, the District Councils across Dorset, along with the old County Council were replaced by a new unitary 'Dorset Council' - however  note that this authority does NOT cover Bournemouth - Christchurch - Poole (BCP) which have their own unitary authority.
